Making space for you. This festive season.

I’m a huge fan of this time of year, I really am. I love being with the family, seeing the kids get so excited about Santa, decorating the tree and decorations. So much to love.  But I also find it can be quite tricky too. I do find myself bending and shaping the things I really want to do to fit in with everyone else, which I know is important but this can also leave me feeling quite drained of energy. It’s a careful balancing act.

It’s that continual pull. Wanting to enjoy all the good stuff but feeling a bit sapped of energy from it all too. And family stuff can be tricky too. Again it’s that constant balancing act of being happy to go with the flow but realising that the flow isn’t always what you might choose to do…again tricky balancing is required.

If this resonates, know that you are not alone. I’ve spoken to sooo many people who feel this too. We’ve pulled together a couple of resources this year to help you navigate this time of year so here’s a reminder of them:

  1. If you feel stuck with family traditions that you want to change but don’t know how to read this.

  2. If you are on your own this festive season after a break up this might help.

  3. And our app is also here to support you and I personally find that taking myself out for a solo walk for ten minutes can do wonders for my headspace and if you don’t like a silent walk I would highly recommend the ’unmuddle your thoughts’.

And lastly I have put together a list of affirmations - they won’t fix everything, but they can act as a filter to help you see the wood for the tree’s. To help you get some perspective.

Pick the one’s that resonate and add them to the affirmations feature in the app - it’s free. That way they can pop up on your phone when you might need a little reminder to just take a breath

What matters most is what this festive seaon means to me, not what it means to society.

  1. I will find joy in little ways.

  2. I can make my own memories and traditions that matter to me.

  3. I'm all about rocking my own holiday vibe – no need to peek over the fence

  4. My holiday magic isn't about outdoing others – it's about feeling good in my own vibe.

  5. Grateful for the chill moments that make my holidays awesome – no need for Insta-perfection.

  6. Likes and shares? Nah, I'm all about making memories that matter.

  7. My holiday value isn't measured in gift-wrapping skills or party extravagance – I'm good enough as I am.

  8. I let go of those crazy standards; I'm all about soaking up the real joy with those who really fill my cup.

  9. I’m enough, my holiday game is enough – no need for extra bells and whistles.

  10. Gratitude is my attitude – comparing just steals the vibe, and I'm not having it!

  11. I will find moments to rest in this busy season.

  12. When I feel stressed, I will pause and take a step back.

  13. I am grateful for the people I have in my life

  14. I speak and act from a place of understanding

  15. I can’t change who they are but I can control how I react to them

  16. I can respectfully take a break if I need one

  17. Others can be who they are. I love who I am

  18. I can go at my own speed and volume

  19. Pressure is not compulsory, I can choose peacefullness
